until Christmas morning in the villages
The idea
In two small villages in the mountains of northern Thailand there are children aged four to twelve for whom Christmas morning will otherwise look like any other morning. We’d like every one of them to open something that was chosen for them, by someone, on purpose.
A boy or a girl, and an age band — four to six, seven to nine, or ten to twelve. Pick one, or pick a few.
Something new, fun and small enough to fit in a shoebox — wrapped, with the tag on it. There are ideas below if you need a nudge, and a tag to print.
Let Nita know and we’ll sort out where to drop it or send it. lamp.charity carries every gift up the mountain and puts it into a child’s hands.
The villages
They are small hill villages in the north of Thailand — the kind reached by a road that turns to dirt, where the school has one room and Christmas is celebrated in the little church with everyone there. lamp.charity has been visiting villages like these for years; the pictures are from past Christmases.
We’d love to arrive with a gift for every child, four to twelve — we’ll bring what we can, and whatever arrives is more than there would have been.
Gift ideas
Pick a child and we’ll suggest a few things that travel well and land well. Your choice also fills in the gift tag on the right.
Christmas 2026Dates
Choose a child, buy a gift, get it to us. The earlier the better — we count as they come in, so no child is missed.
Everything is counted and packed, and the count is checked against the villages' lists.
The gifts go north. Pictures come back — we’ll put them on this page so you can see the morning you helped make.
Write to Nita — say boy or girl and an age, and she’ll come straight back with where to bring or send the gift. No forms, no fuss.
